Geology and the outdoors

This site sets out one of the interests of my life—geology and the Bible.

When you are interested in geology the countryside takes on a new perspective. No matter where you go there are new and exciting things to check out.

Background

I have a Bachelor of Science majoring in Earth Science with first class honours, a Bachelor of Engineering with first class honours in Mechanical Engineering and a Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering.

For over 20 years I have been involved in the planning, design and operation of power stations with the electricity industry in Queensland, Australia. I have helped organise a number of conferences including one of the Simulation Society of Australia. Over the years I have developed models for various aspects of the power industry including the coordinated operation of the system and construction of power stations.

I have visited many coal mines in Queensland and been involved in geological assessments of new fuel supplies for power stations.

I believe an understanding of the Bible has the potential to revolutionize our comprehension of geology, our heritage and our future. I believe it can have practical application in earth science and mineral exploration. You will see how a geological model can be developed based on a plain reading of the Bible.

With Creation Ministries International

We have travelled a lot since I started with Creation Ministries International (formerly Answers in Genesis) in 1999, mainly to make presentations about geology and the Bible. While on the road we take the opportunity to check out the geology in the field.

In school

Teaching a class of Primary students about fossilization.

In 2003 I made presentations at Creation 2003 on the topics of 'Biblical Geology: Properly understanding the rocks' and 'Evidence for Noah's Flood in Australia'.

On another occasion, we spent several weeks travelling through outback Queensland, seeing the country that was able to be settled because of the availability of artesian water.
